Baltic Environmental Forum Latvia

The Baltic Environmental Forum Latvia is a non-governmental organisation aiming at strengthening environmental protection by developing co-operation and dialogue between various stakeholders. Activities focus on fostering implementation of the EU environmental policy in the Baltic Sea region particularly with respect to sustainable development of urban and rural areas, including use of resources; climate change mitigation and adaptation; and sustainable consumption patterns.

The BEF Latvia is a facilitator and networking organisation that seeks to build stakeholder capacity for better environmental protection by organising international and national events. BEF Latvia specialists have experience in data collection and comparative analyses. Several targeted publications on various environmental issues and recommendations on EU policy implementation at various levels have been elaborated.

Baltic Environmental Forum Latvia in this project is leading WP3 - Increasing stakeholder participation and social acceptance. Main responsibility is the compilation of a handbook on innovative forms of stakeholder participation and communication based on the input by the regional partners. BEF Latvia also with Zemgale Planning Region will organising and hosting the project's final conference in Riga.
