Surplus heat from industry in Zealand, Denmark
As one of four pilots in Zealand, the aim of this project is to utilise substantial waste heat from the industrial company NKT A/S by switching the heat supply in the town of Asnæs to district heating, utilising the waste heat from NKT.
Objectives
The project will include feasibility studies of the various technical solutions for utilizing surplus heat from industrial operations as well as public meetings and other activities aimed at involving the citizens of Asnæs in the process. Subsequently the project will develop ownership and financing concepts and contribute to regulatory approval of different elements.
Implementation
The project pilot will include the following aspects:
- Feasibility studies of various heat technical solutions that involves the utilization of surplus heat from industrial operations.
- Public meeting and other activities involving the inhabitants in Asnæs in the process.
- Development of ownership and financing of the project.
- Contribute to regulatory approval of the different elements.
Stakeholders will include the company NKT Cables ltd, supplying the surplus heat, Odsherred utility company and municipality, citizens and Roskilde University. The project will reduce emissions from heating in Asnæs, by converting individual boilers on natural gas to a district heating system based on surplus heat.
